At this time of year, it's a good idea to do something very simple.
Put up a world map in the staff room, and put a box of pins next to it.
Ask colleagues (of whom there may be over 100) to put a pin in the map to show where they are going, and to take a blank DVD onto which they can put a sample of their holiday snaps (sans family etc...)
Come September, you have a major image gallery, and possibly a range of 'visiting speakers' for your classes...
Also hand out sticky labels to pupils with the school address on, and ask them to send you a postcard, with a small prize (or more) to the most interesting / humorous / geographical postcard that is sent to the Geography department - cue an interesting display and talking point to kick off the school year....
